The Story

A piece of Jackson County, still serving lunch.

A Pikeville store has anchored this corner of northern Alabama for generations.

The Pikeville Store began serving this farming community in the early 1900s. In the 1990s it became a restaurant, and the burgers quickly built a following that reached well beyond Scottsboro. The wood ceiling in the front room still carries timber from the original Pikeville Store.

It stayed in one family for years before changing hands in 2017 and again in 2023. Through every chapter, one thing has stayed the same. People drive out of their way for these burgers.

What People Drive For

The food that built the reputation.

Awards have come and gone, but the real draw has always been the same. Hand pattied, fresh grilled burgers made the way they have been made here for years.

The Opportunity

The location does the selling. Imagine what marketing could do.

  • A destination location. Sitting near Skyline Mountain, Pikeville catches travelers headed to some of the best hiking and deer hunting in northern Alabama. They stop in, eat, and remember it. "Take a hike up the Pike" is more than a slogan.
  • A built in customer base. Roughly 50 to 100 guests a day on a Tuesday to Saturday, 10 to 2:30 schedule, entirely on word of mouth and a loyal local following.
  • Wide open upside. An active Facebook page with thousands of followers, but no website, no paid advertising, and short daily hours. For the right owner, a real website, longer hours, and basic marketing are pure runway.
  • A real estate asset, not just a business. The sale includes the building, the land, and the commercial equipment. You are buying the whole thing, ready to run.

Buyer Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Q. How do I schedule a showing?

All showings are arranged directly through me. If you would like to walk the property, email me or have your agent reach out, and we will find a time that works for everyone. Please do not contact the owners or ask the staff about the sale. You are always welcome to visit as a regular guest and try the food during open hours, but anything to do with the purchase should come straight to me. Please also note that the restaurant will be closed for the month of July, so reaching out to schedule ahead is the best way to make sure you can get in.

Q. Why are the current owners selling?

Nothing is wrong with the business, and that is worth saying plainly. The current owners have loved their time running Pikeville. With young children at home, they have simply decided to step back from full time business ownership so they can spend more of their days with family. They are proud of what the restaurant is and want to see the right person carry it forward.

Q. Am I buying the real estate, or only the business?

Both. The sale includes the business, the building, the half acre it sits on, and the commercial kitchen equipment. You are buying a complete operation and the property under it, not just a name and a lease.

Q. Is there room to grow this business?

Yes, and that may be the most compelling part of this listing. With no website and no paid marketing, Pikeville still serves 50 to 100 people a day, carried by word of mouth and an engaged Facebook following of more than 8,000. With even minor business development, a new owner could realistically see up to a fifty percent improvement in revenue within the first six months. Several additional streams of revenue have already been identified that would not require extra labor or significant expense. The groundwork is done, and the business is ready to step into the future.

Q. What is included in the sale?

The sale is turnkey. It includes the business and its brand, the building and land, and the commercial kitchen equipment and fixtures currently in use. The land and building are owned free and clear, with no mortgage and clean, unencumbered title. The Pikeville name and its signature recipes, including the Moon Pie banana pudding, are part of what makes this opportunity special. A full equipment and inventory list is available to serious buyers.

Q. Will the current owners help with the transition?

Yes. The owners are open to staying on for roughly 30 to 90 days to help a new owner get comfortable with the kitchen, the recipes, and the daily routine. The exact arrangement can be worked out as part of the offer.

Q. Can a new owner change the menu, hours, or concept?

Yes. The recipes, the name, and the loyal following are a big part of the value, so most buyers will want to keep what works. But the business is yours to run and yours to build on, including longer hours, catering, and new ideas.

Q. Can I see the financials?

Financials, an equipment list, and operating details are available to qualified, serious buyers upon request. Use the button below and your request comes straight to my inbox. I will follow up with everything you need, and a full income summary will be provided once it is ready.
